False. He was the best Bond. How can you not love the cheesy 70s-ness of it all? And he does have a point, like it or not, Bond is still based off a character in a book. A character who pretty much has a defined personality and demeanor. I mean, it was a huge jump from the usual to go to Daniel Craig a few years ago.

In the books Bond thought that homosexuals can’t whistle.

Sean Connery was my favorite James Bond LOL. I remember watching James Bond/Indiana Jones movies with my grandpa and I was like, when I grow up (to be an old grandpa) I want to be like Sean Connery.
I’m Asian.

Roger Moore was a pathetic Bond. I call him the confused old man bond, because when he did something it wasn’t an “ Shut up baby I know it! ” face, it was more a “that worked? Whew, that’s lucky...I mean I meant to do that” face. Though I do agree that a defined character [any character] doesn’t need nor should they necessarily bend to the will of public opinion.

Well considering Connery’s Bond pulled off that asian look so convincingly with simple makeup, I’d say don’t give up your dream. ;)

A female, gay James Bond? I would watch that!

He had his moments. I think a lot of it was the writing and the times (60s>70s). Had he gotten the role years earlier instead of Connery or Lazenby (he was in consideration both times), we might have a different opinion of him.

Maybe he wasn’t the greatest, but he was the Bond I grew up with. So when I see other Bond movies, I’m always relating them to Roger Moore’s Bond. He kept it classy and had good delivery on the classic Bond punch lines.

What do you mean a heterosexual character can’t be homosexual? Next thing you’ll tell me is that Yoda can’t be a Wookie, or Captain Kirk a Romulan?

I like the current one. Extra badass.

If you think of it, couldn’t
007
be the number on the back of a Rugby League jersey, signifying a
position
? They could have fun casting a woman as a
007
. I mean heck: they didn’t even
have
gay people, did they, when the original Bond series was written?

Well, there’s nothing true or false about taste. But if I had to choose which
007
I wanted backing me up, I’d want Daniel Craig and Roger Moore could polish my shoes or get me a drink or bring me the paper.

Live and Let Die was fucking amazing, though.

I know he isn’t super popular - but I always really enjoyed the Roger Moore bond. I good 70’s bond. And he didn’t f*** around - tell me what I know or I’ll break your arm, get in my way and I’ll throw you off a roof.

Or a guy with brown hair can’t be played by a guy with blonde hair? We all know there’s a lot of play in the Bond character. I don’t think they’d do gay or female, the notion is absurd. But they change him often.
